saving animals .... one at a time
Rainbow Animal Rescue

We are an all breed, canine rescue organization. We are a 501(C)(3), non-profit canine rescue group.

As we have no shelter of our own, we rely on fosters to house the animals until they can be adopted. The fosters give the animals a loving, home environment to prepare them for adoption. If you would like to foster for us, please complete the Foster Application. We pay for everything!

Mission Statement

Rainbow Animal Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, established to rescue and place unwanted animals in qualified, loving homes. Through education, we seek to create an animal-friendly community in the Tidewater area.

Thank you to Allstate volunteer Lee Ann Sullivan for being a positive force for change in our community. Lee Ann Sullivan gave her time and enabled us to receive an Allstate Foundation Helping Hands in the Community grant. The Allstate Foundation supports the causes that Allstate agency owners, financial specialists and employees care about most by providing Helping Hands in the Community grants to nonprofits where they volunteer their time to bring out the good in their communities.

Rainbow would like to thank Orvis for their generous support of a $1,000 grant!

Animal Welfare Group Gets Grant from Petfinder Foundation

Rainbow Animal Rescue, Inc, Norfolk, was one of 30 animal welfare organizations to receive a supply of True-Dose Calming Pet Supplement, thanks to a grant from ENB Science in partnership with the Petfinder Foundation.  True-Dose Calming is designed to help pets who may be exposed to environmental stressors and/or suffer from anxiety, both conditions that often affect shelter animals.

The True-Dose Calming Pet Supplement utilizes a patented delivery mechanism that ensures that each pet gets the precise does for his or her weight. The relief this product can offer to anxious shelter pets will give them a greater chance of being adopted,” said Toni Morgan, Petfinder Foundation program manager. “We’re delighted that True-Dose stepped forward to make this donation.”  All grant recipients post their pets on Petfinder.com, the largest database of homeless pets on the web

The Petfinder Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 public charity, helps homeless pets by saving lives through adoptions, helping shelters prepare for and recover from disaster and working to make sure animal welfare organizations across the country are more sustainable.  Its mission is to ensure no adoptable pet is euthanized for lack of a home.  Since 2003 the foundation has provided over $20 million in grants to animal welfare organizations and Petfinder.com member shelters and rescue groups.
